Why Focus on Balance & Mobility?

This exercise class will focus on improving your stability, coordination, and range of motion to enhance overall physical function. In this class, you can expect a mix of activities that target different aspects of balance and mobility such as:

Balance Exercises: These exercises focus on improving your ability to maintain stability while standing or moving. Examples are standing on one leg, heel-to-toe walking, or exercises using props like a balance pad or stability ball to increase the challenge. (Don’t worry if your balance isn’t great, you can always use a wall or chair for added stability during the exercise!)

Strengthening Exercises: These help build the muscles that support balance, such as the core, legs, and glutes. For example, exercises like squats, leg lifts, and lunges help to improve strength and control.

Mobility Exercises: These movements are designed to improve joint range of motion and flexibility. These exercises may look similar to stretches you have seen, but instead of long hold times, mobility is about moving through the full range of motion with control.

Proprioception Exercises: These help train your body to sense where it is in space. Exercises that involve standing on an uneven surface or performing dynamic movements (like reaching or stepping) help to improve your body’s awareness of balance.

A combination of these different types of exercises will result in a dynamic class that will leave you feeling strong, stable, and balanced!
